I love the idea of using ICT to engage students but I've encountered some snares during my placement:
1. Without my mentor bringing her laptop to school, any ICT I wanted to use ie. projector, became pointless.
2. Most classrooms haven't got computers and my year 10 History class - the one I'd like to use them in the most - aren't timetabled in for any classes in them. So it means that organising an ICT lesson is a gigantic hassle
3. So many websites are blocked - even from teachers - that it gets hard to do anything.
All in all, a difficult situation but I'm still determined to incorporate some ICT into most of my classes.

Using ICT in a Humanities Classroom
So I'm creating a unit plan for assessment for humanities and I'm really trying to incorporate ICT into it. The unit is for year 11 history, specifically world war 2. The main assessment task for the unit is going to be to use moviemaker to create a movie timeline of the events leading up to and during WWII.
We're also going to use Glogster to get the students to create posters of the long-term effects of the A-bombs in Nagasaki and Hiroshima.
I'd love to actually use these activities in a classroom some day. Fingers crossed I'll have the opportunity.
